The inevitable New Year's Eve post / La inevitable entrada de Cap d'Any

Here we are, finishing another year. If I said if feels like yesterday it was January 1 and blah, blah it would be nothing but a lie. This is really good as it's the first time since I was 15 I can't say so. The year's been long and I've done loads of things. Hopefully 2013's going to be better although it starts with some important handicaps, being back at my parents' for a start... Anyway, I won't say anyway about experiences, feelings and so, it would take too long. I'll just say I have been really productive during these past 12 months. Quantity shouldn't be a scale when writing -especially considering I haven't finished many things and none of them has been produced- but I think it works well as an account of what have I been up to this year. Here's the list, combining personal projects and the ones I did for my Masters'. I've also written down how far have I gotten so it will also be a reminder of my lack of perseverance, which I intend to improve during the year that starts tonight.

- The Castoffs, an animated film (2nd draft nearly finished).

- Uphill, a TV series' proposal (finished).

- Spinning, a stage play (finished).

- The Old Folks Project, a video game (world design, main storyline).

- A novel (storyline and thirty pages).

- Dantalion, a horror short film (finished).

- Warmth, a short, comic book spin-off from The Castoffs (synopsis' 2nd draft).

- Domestic problems, a short story (finished).

- Recapture, a Sci-Fi short film (1st draft).

- A horror short film (step outline).

- A music documentary (step outline).

- A thriller feature film (synopsis).

- A horror/thriller feature film (synopsis).

The list has made me aware there are a couple of things that are worth sharing and that I haven't uploaded. Maybe I'll do it during this next year. Well, have a great New Year's Eve. As I said there are a couple of important projects in due course I'll tell you about pretty soon so I hope you'll stay tuned!

Ja hi som, un altre any que s'acaba. Si digués que sembla que fos ahir que era 1 de gener i bla, bla seria mentida, i això és bo perquè és la primera vegada des que tenia quinze anys que no ho puc dir. L'any ha estat llarg i he fet un merder de coses, i esperem que el 2013 sigui encara millor, encara que comenci amb alguns inconvenients importants, tornar a viure amb els meus pares, sense anar més lluny. Sigui com sigui no em posaré a parlar d'experiències, sentiments, etc, trigaria massa. Només diré que aquests darrers dotze mesos han estat molt productius creativament parlant. La quantitat no hauria de ser un barem a l'hora de parlar d'escriptura, i més tenint en compte que no he acabat moltes coses i que cap d'elles ha estat produïda... però em sembla que funciona bé com un recull de què he estat fent aquest any. Aquí teniu la llista, que combina projectes personals i els que vaig fer pel Màster. També he escrit fins a quin punt de desenvolupament he arribat, de manera que també servirà com a recordatori de la meva inconstància, que pretenc millorar durant l'any que comença aquesta nit.

- Una pel·lícula de terror/thriller (sinopsi).

La llista m'ha fet adonar que hi ha un parell de coses que potser valdria la pena compartir i que encara no he pujat. Potser ho faré durant l'any vinent. Bé, passeu un gran Cap d'Any. Com ja vaig dir hi ha un parell de projectes importants en camí dels quals us parlaré ben aviat de manera que espero que estigueu atents!

Back! / De tornada!

It's been more than a month since my last post but here I am, back after four crazy weeks. It would be hard to explain in short how they have been: the amazing (and weird) stuff I saw in Tokyo, how did it feel to come back to my former house in Leeds for the first time since I left in mid-June... What's interesting from a creative point of view is this month has been a huge energy refill and an extremely enriching experience at many levels. I've been thinking of putting all my Tokyo notes together and rewrite them. There are so many things from those 10 days I'd like to remember that I feel I must do it. I still don't know if it's going to be just for me, to have it recorded for the years to come, or if I'll do it for other people to read... we'll see. In any case if it goes well enough I may post some excerpts.

However, this won't happen soon. I have quite a few things I should finish as quickly as possible, so I must get back to my writing routine and my projects. And I will, no matter how hard Christmas tries to drag me away from them. Probably my relatives are going to give me bad looks for being the first one to leave the family gatherings, but if I don't I won't be able to work properly until next week and this is something I can't afford... and then again, when duty and passion meet there's not much you can do about it, just to embrace it and enjoy the ride.

That's all... talking about my projects, as soon as I sort out a couple of things I'll post some updates on the Old Folks Project and The Castoffs. I explained a few things on the latter on my last post but on the following ones I'll explain everything in more detail. There are some exciting things coming...

Ha passat més d'un mes des de la meva darrera entrada però ja sóc aquí, de tornada després de quatre setmanes boges. Seria difícil explicar resumidament com han estat: les coses increïbles (i estranyes) que vaig veure a Tòquio, com em vaig sentir en tornar a la meva antiga casa a Leeds per primera vegada des que vaig marxar a mitjans de juny... El que interessa des d'un punt de vista creatiu és que aquest més ha estat una gran recàrrega d'energia i una experiència extremadament enriquidora a molts nivells. He estat pensant en revisar i reescriure les meves notes de Tòquip. Hi ha tantes coses d'aquells 10 dies que m'agradaria recordar que crec que ho he de fer. Encara no estic segur de si serà només per mi, per tenir-ho escrit per sempre més, o si ho faré pensant en què també ho llegeixin d'altres... ja ho veurem. En qualsevol cas si va prou bé segurament penjaré alguns fragments.

Malgrat tot, això no passarà aviat. Hi ha unes quantes coses que hauria d'acabar tan ràpid com sigui possible, de manera que he de tornar a la meva rutina d'escriptura i als meus projectes. I ho faré, per molt que el Nadal s'esforci en allunyar-me d'ells. Probablement els meus parents em miraran malament per ser el primer a aixecar-se de la taula durant els àpats familiars, però si no ho faig no podré treballar en condicions al menys fins la setmana que ve i no m'ho puc permetre... i, a més, quan el deure i la passió s'ajunten no hi pots fer gran cosa, només acceptar-ho i gaudir del viatge.

Això és tot... parlant dels meus projectes, tan aviat com arregli un parell de cosetes penjaré actualitzacions sobre l'Old Folks Project i The Castoffs. En el meu últim post ja vaig explicar algunes coses del darrer però durant el següents ho faré en més detall. S'acosten coses emocionants...
