I was going to call this second part The Best is Yet to Come, but then I thought it'd be too easy and too cheesy. And "Looking Forward" would be too predictable. So "Moving On".
To start, I
had an idea long ago. It went through different
incarnations but none of them was satisfactory. And then one of the worst
things that can happen to a scriptwriter occurred: I saw an opening
sequence. An awesome one. Script, shots and soundtrack. I
also saw the ending sequence in the same exact way. I told myself "This is great... You have to figure out what happens between these two sequences". And this is... Hell. I've got a few ideas written down, glimpses at what could be. I'll try to create a consistent story. Everything's set in Barcelona and it wouldn't be costly to produce so it'd be fantastic to come up with a good plot and develop it into a full script.
I also plan to write a horror film. It starts with something that happened to me two years ago and takes some ideas from a story I wrote while in uni. I haven't used a thing of what I wrote back then but it has helped me developing the story, which is only a seven-pages outline at the moment. Interestingly, although I have a few screenwriting theories integrated in my storytelling process, I think it's the first time I'm consciously using Syd Field's Paradigm to write a story, paying attention to the plot points and so. I thought that a genre piece like these could benefit of following an established set of rules. And... there isn't really much more to tell about it apart so far, apart from the movie being set in a small, seaside village in Northern England.
Then there's the documentary I have in mind. It would be about video games, but I have only vague ideas so far. I have to choose the topics so I can have a clear driving force around which the whole story is built. I only have some lists that came out of a brainstorming session but I thought it deserved to be mentioned as it's something I'd really want to write and have done. Not that I don't have the same desire with the rest of my stuff but this is something different and quite more feasible so it's worth the try.
To finish, I switch from audio visual media to narrative. I'm writing... I guess the technical name for it would be novella. Too short to be a novel, too long to be a short story. I started writing it after re-watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (Season 1 and Season 2). By the way, if you haven't watched it or the original movie it spawned from, DO IT. They're really good from sooo many points of view. Getting back to the topic, after watching the series I felt like writing a futuristic story. It's sort of a novella that contains some short stories. From where I stand -as I'm writing it- it has a number of layers
that approach a range of topics that concern me or that I'm
interested in. The story spans from the 1980s to
the beginning of the 22nd century, making some stops on the way to make its points. Not that I want to teach anything, I just use the stories to reflect on a handful of things. I'm not even halfway through the writing so I won't say much more, but I'm quite enthusiastic.
I think this is pretty much everything, so I'll write again when I'll have news on these or other projects or whatever comes. We'll see...
Anava a titular aquesta segona part The Best is Yet to Come però després he pensat que seria massa fàcil i massa cursi. I "Mirant Endavant" seria massa previsible. O sigui que "Seguint".
Per començar, vaig tenir una idea fa temps. Va passar per diferents encarnacions, però cap m'acabava de convèncer. Llavors em va passar una de les pitjors coses que li poden passar a un guionista: Vaig veure una seqüència inicial. Una de boníssima. Guió, plans i banda sonora. També vaig veure la seqüència final de la mateixa manera. Em vaig dir "Això és genial... Has d'esbrinar què passa entre aquestes dues seqüències". I això és... l'Infern. Tinc unes quantes idees escrites, flaixos del que podria ser. Intentaré crear una història consistent. Tot passa a Barcelona i no seria car de produir de manera que seria fantàstic treure'n un bon argument i desenvolupar-ho en un guió complet.
També estic planejant escriure una pel·lícula de terror. Comença amb una cosa que em va passar fa dos anys i conté algunes idees d'una història que vaig escriure a la universitat. No he fet servir res del que vaig escriure aleshores però m'ha ajudat a desenvolupar la història, que ara mateix només és una sinopsi de set pàgines. És interessant que, tot i que tinc unes quantes teories del guió integrades en la meva manera d'explicar històries, em sembla que és la primera vegada que estic fent servir conscientment el Paradigma de Syd Field per escriure una història, parant atenció als plot points i tot plegat. Vaig pensar que una peça de gènere com aquesta podria beneficiar-se de seguir una sèrie de normes preestablertes. I... no hi ha gaire més a dir sobre això, a banda que la pel·lícula passa en un petit poble costaner del nord d'Anglaterra.
Després hi ha el documental que em volta pel cap. Seria sobre videojocs, però de moment només tinc unes quantes idees vagues. He de triar els temes per poder tenir un fil conductor clar al voltanr del qual construir tota la història. Només tinc unes quantes llistes que van sortir d'una sessió de pluja d'idees però he pensat que valia la pena esmentar-ho perquè és quelcom que realment vull escriure i fer. No vull dir que no tingui el mateix desig amb les altres coses que faig, és només que és una cosa diferent i bastant més factible o sigui que val la pena intentar-ho.
Per acabar passo de l'audiovisual a la narrativa. Estic escrivint... suposo que la paraula tècnica és nouvelle. Massa curta per ser una novel·la, massa llarga per ser un relat curt. Vaig començar a escriure-la després de re-mirar Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (la Primera Temporada i la Segona). Per cert, si no heu vist ni la sèrie ni la pel·lícula que la va originar, FEU-HO. Són realment bones des de mooolts punts de vista. Tornant al tema, després de veure la sèrie tenia ganes d'escriure una història futurista. És una mena de nouvelle que conté uns quants relats curts. Des del meu punt de vista -mentre l'escric- té uns quants nivells de lectura que toquen una sèrie de temes que em preocupen o m'interessen. La història cobreix des dels anys vuitanta del segle passat fins principis del segle XXII, fent algunes aturades pel camí per exposar algunes idees. No és que vulgui ensenyar res, només faig servir les històries per reflexionar sobre un grapat de coses. No he arribat ni tan sols a la meitat de l'escriptura o sigui que no n'explicaré gaire cosa més, però m'entusiasma bastant.
